Heavenly Father,
We come to you again remembering the life of your daughter Lorraine.
There are so many and such happy memories that it is painful to recall
them.
Sometimes we are so busy that we forget.
But the sight of a place, a photo, a word or a phrase -
and in our hearts we feel pain again,
we feel again the blank in life which nothing can fill.
Keep us steady in heart and mind, remembering that the one we loved
is not gone forever,
but has joined the unseen cloud of witnesses who hover around us day
after day,
anxious for our progress in the right direction.
Bring us quickly to the time when the memories which make us cry
will be the memories which make us smile.
We ask this trough Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Dear
Lord, Jesus,
As we recall with gratitude all that Lorraine did for us as mother,
niece and friend,
help us to think deeply how best we may honour her memory.
She would want us to be positive, full of hope for the future,
fighting hard every day to fulfil our promise.
We cannot do this on our own. We need your help.
As the psalm says, God is our hope & strength.
So let us be stronger day by day, as we daily ask you to help us.
Without you, Lord, life is a sick joke - and nothing to laugh about.
So lead us day by day towards the real joy which you offer us
as we try to do honour to Lorraine's memory and struggle to overcome
all our weaknesses.
We ask for your strength, O Jesus our Lord. Amen.
O Holy Spirit,
Lead us in sorrow and in joy.
May our sorrows be transformed into joy
as we remember Lorraine.
And may we not just remember her,
but in honour of her memory
let us promise to be the best that we can be.
And now,
may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God our Father
and the friendship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all for evermore. Amen.Let us pray:
She is not lost, but gone before.
She was mother, niece and friend.
She is with Jesus who said,
" I am the resurrection and the life".
Lord, fill our hearts with peace now & in the days ahead. Amen. |
